Ronald Porter, 51, Lyft driver since 2016
I joined Lyft because…
I was told it was a good company, and I wanted to try it out for myself. I used to be a truck driver. I did that for 10 years, but it kept me away from home for too long. I like Lyft because there’s more freedom. You’re actually working for yourself. You work the hours you want to work and stop when you want to.

I enjoy driving for Lyft because…
I get to meet a lot of different people. I’m learning every day. I’m learning something new every time I move around. A lot of the people I’ve met have helped me with some of the ideas I’m working toward. Some of the instructors who will be teaching in my program I’ve met driving for Lyft. It’s like another way of networking.
